Metin2 Dragon Stone Alchemy: Complete DSS Guide

Endgame stat-amplification system

The Dragon Stone Alchemy (DSS) is one of Metin2's most important endgame systems. It lets every character slot up to seven dragon stones, each adding raw stats, elemental resistance and (at the highest tier) elemental damage. This guide covers the seven stone types, the refinement workflow, the daily quests, the 24-hour timer, and the tradability rules.

What DSS Is

Metin2 DSS two-set layout

Every character has two Dragon Stone slot panels, each with seven coloured slots. Open with O. Swap between sets with CTRL C or CTRL V. Only one set is active at a time. Equip 6 or more stones in a set and the DSS Set Effect activates, amplifying every bonus on the active stones. This set effect is one of the biggest endgame damage multipliers in the game.

The Seven Stone Types

Onyx Diamond Ruby Jade Sapphire Garnet Amethyst

Maximum rolls on a Mythic, Excellent, 6 stone:

Stone Primary Resistance Mythic damage
Onyx 16 VIT16% Darkness16% Power of Darkness
Diamond 16 INT16% Ice16% Power of Ice
Ruby 16 STR16% Fire16% Power of Fire
Jade 800 Max SP16% Wind16% Power of Wind
Sapphire 16 DEX16% Earth16% Power of Earth
Garnet 2400 Max HP16% Lightning16% Power of Lightning
Amethyst16% Strong vs Devils 16 Precision 16 Sung Ma's Will

Amethyst was added in patch 23.2 as the seventh slot. Older 6-slot guides predate that update.

Quests and Shards

Dragon Stone Shard Cor Draconis (Rough) Cor Daemonis (Rough)

The system unlocks at level 30 with the quest "Arrival of the Dragon Stone Shards". Monsters drop Dragon Stone Shards. Bring 10 shards to the Alchemist (Energy System) NPC and you receive one Cor Draconis (Rough). The quest is repeatable 5 times per day, resets at 4:00 AM server time.

From level 110, the quest "Dragon Stone Shards ?!" opens. Same flow with Dragon Stone Shard from the Plateau of Illusions, and 10 of them trade for a Cor Draconis (Rough) or the rarer Cor Daemonis (Rough). Repeatable 3 times per day. Cor Daemonis is needed for Mythic upgrades.

Critical: every shard expires 24 hours after dropping. Convert them the same day, do not hoard.

The Three Refinement Axes

A dragon stone progresses on three independent axes, each with its own NPC dialogue:

Class (Rough → Mythic)

DSS Class Upgrade UI

Six steps: Rough → Cut → Rare → Antique → Legendary → Mythic. Combines two stones of the same class. On failure you keep one stone at the current class.

Clarity (Matt → Excellent)

DSS Clarity Upgrade UI

Five steps: Matt → Clear → Flawless → Brilliant → Excellent. Same mechanic as class. Combines two stones of the same clarity, failure consumes only the second stone.

Level ( 1 to 6)

DSS Level Upgrade UI Green Dragon Bean Blue Dragon Bean Pink Dragon Bean

Uses one stone plus one Dragon Bean (Green / Blue / Pink). On failure the level drops by one or stays the same, so this is the only axis where you can lose progress.

Max level by clarity: Matt / Clear / Flawless cap at 4, Brilliant at 5, Excellent at 6.

Mythic Bonus Re-roll (Flame of the Dragon)

Only Mythic stones can re-roll their bonus, using Flame of the Dragon. Cost scales steeply with clarity: Matt 1, Clear 3, Flawless 9, Brilliant 27, Excellent 81. Always re-roll at Matt first, lock the bonus you want, then push clarity. Doing it the other way costs 81 flames per attempt.

Activation, Timer, Set Swap

Drag a stone into a slot, click Activate. The stone runs for 24 hours, then deactivates. A buff icon appears in the top-left of the screen. With 6 stones active, the DSS Set Effect icon appears too.

Both sets can hold stones at the same time but only one set is active. Press CTRL C or CTRL V to swap. The inactive set's timers do not pause.

Extending Timers and Removing Stones

Tongs of Time Dragon Tongs Dragon Tongs
  • Tongs of Time: extract a random 5%–100% of an unused stone's duration into a Time Elixir (S/M/L). Apply the elixir to an active stone to extend its 24-hour timer. Elixirs expire 24 hours after creation, use them the same session.
  • Dragon Tongs: raise the success chance of removing a slotted stone.
  • Dragon Tongs : guarantee removal with zero risk. The standard tool for Mythic Excellent 6 stones.
  • Scroll of Binding / Unbinding: soulbind or unbind a stone.

Tradability by Class Tier

Below Antique, stones are character-locked. From Antique upward they trade normally, but private-shop sales are never allowed at any tier.

Antique / Legendary / MythicYesYesYesNo

Tips

  • Do all 5 daily shard quests every day. The system runs on raw shard volume.
  • Re-roll bonuses at Matt clarity (1 flame), not Excellent (81 flames).
  • Use Dragon Tongs on anything Antique or above. Bare removal can destroy the stone.
  • Never hoard shards. 24-hour expiry, convert the same day.
  • Always slot Amethyst as the seventh stone to trigger the DSS Set Effect.

Dragon Stone Alchemy FAQ

Level 30. The quest "Arrival of the Dragon Stone Shards" appears automatically.

What's the max level a stone can reach?

6, and only at Excellent clarity. Matt / Clear / Flawless cap at 4, Brilliant at 5.

Why does my stone keep losing levels?

Level upgrades are the only axis where a failure can demote the stone. Class and clarity upgrades only ever consume the second stone on failure.

Why do stones disappear after 24 hours?

That's the activated stone's duration. Use a Time Elixir made via Tongs of Time to extend it.

How do I re-roll a Mythic bonus?

Why can't I put my Rough / Cut / Rare stones in the warehouse?

Below Antique tier, stones are character-locked. Push to Antique and the restrictions lift.

Safest way to remove a Mythic stone?

Dragon Tongs . Bare removal can destroy the stone. Tongs raise the chance, Tongs guarantee success.

Is Amethyst worth slotting?

Yes. Amethyst is the seventh slot. Skipping it means missing the DSS Set Effect, one of the biggest endgame damage multipliers.
