Where did top lists come from?
Toplist pages have been a staple of the Metin2 P-server scene for years. When they first started, the intention was that with so many servers to choose from, players could look there to see which servers were the most popular.
The ranking was actually formed by the number of players on the server, because the more players you had, the more votes you could generate. That means, the servers that had the most players were always placed at the top. Smaller servers suffered of course, because over time, players only played the servers that were at the top, because they have the most players. They figured the more players, the better the server.
The turning point
This affected the approach of Sever Admins and toplist operators. The server admins started looking for ways to push their server votes. The toplist operators saw this as a new opportunity. It didn't matter anymore that players voted, because they would get on the toplist anyway. Now you could make money by selling rankings on the toplist to server admins at outsized prices.
From now on, it was all the more difficult for good servers to prevail, because the money factor took over. Over the years, this spectacle was seen through, but there is still no real alternative.
For this very reason, we decided to offer a toplist that is free, independent and critical of this system. After all these years, we want to do something good for the scene. This is our way of saying thank you to the players who have supported the servers for years. Because of you, the game Metin2 has evolved. Not only the Metin2 P-server scene, but Metin2 itself. You were forced to evolve.
Besides that, we also had other reasons. We want to grow beyond ourselves and generally develop the toplist industry. It should not be a simple page that you visit briefly and look who is in 1st place. Especially since this position should not only be formed by votes, but also by serious criticism and discussion with the server. More information should be offered to the searching player, so that he can make himself a better picture of a server.
Furthermore, we offer server leaders ways to improve their server. Various tutorials on technology, free releases and much more!
For us to grow and for the free, independent and critical portal to prevail, we need your help, of course! Not only the help of the server admins, but also the help of the players. Trust is the basis of our project. Let's create together a toplist, where you can find the server that suits you and the server is top placed, which also deserves it.
