Lycan? No go for P-Server players

The Lycan got introduced with the official game version 14.11 back in 2014.
Lycans are formidable wolf creatures which were once infected by an incurable virus, losing their human forms and mutating into beasts. Thanks to their unbridled power and heightened instincts they make exeptional close combat fighters. Fearless in the face of conflict, they always seek out the front lines.

A new class

With the Lycan, Metin2 got a fifth class as an addition to Warrior, Sura, Shaman and Ninja. The joy of a new class in Metin2 was very great and the community waited eagerly for the update. However, the anticipation very quickly turned into a disaster after the announcement of a new defence for the lycan. The introduction of claw defence made most players' PvP equipment worthless. The frustration was understandable, but nothing was changed by WebZen, the game studio of Metin2. The frustration was very high and players stopped playing. It is still the biggest player loss with an update in the history of Metin2.

Why do Metin2 P-Server players hate the Lycan?

The frustration and hate was so big that even the best changes made by some P-Servers could no longer make the Lycan appealing to the majority of the community. As one of the first P-Servers, Rubinum and Shiro3 (successor of Shiro2) added the Lycan with a different approach. They have combined dagger defence and claw defence into only one defence. The people who like the Lycan in general appreciated this very big improvement, but the image was damaged too much that the majority of the community did not even try the Lycan. Nowadays servers with Lycan are avoided from the majority of the Metin2 community.

Information about Lycan

Enough bad things about the Lycan. The majority of the Metin2 community still agrees that if the update had been better and properly implemented, the Lycan would be a popular class today. The biggest advantage of the Lycan is the damage output while riding a Horse or Mount, while its biggest disadvantage is the damage output without riding a Horse or Mount. This is one of the reasons Lycan is not even popular among the player vs monster content. The most popular dungeons before the Yohara continent are Ship Defence, also known as Hydra and Meley's Lair. Since you can't ride a Horse or Mount inside both dungeons, the Lycan is one of the worst classes here.

The lycan has only one subclass which makes them different compared to Warrior, Sura, Shaman and Ninja at Metin2 and also Metin2 P-Servers.

Become possessed by the soul of the crimson wolf. Increases Attack Value (AV) and opponent's armour is ignored. Strengthened by Intelligence (INT).

Indigo Wolf Soul

Become possessed by the soul of the crimson wolf. Increase the attack speed and evasion of your entire group.

Shred

Tear into your opponent with a powerful blow. Physical melee attack. Strengthened by Strength (STR).

Wolf's Breath

Attack your opponent with a deadly gust of air. Physical ranged attack. Strengthened by Strength (STR), Dexterity (DEX), Vitality (VIT).

Wolf's Claw

Shred your enemy's armour. Physical ranged attack Reduces opponent's defence. Strengthened by Strength (STR), Dexterity (DEX), Vitality (VIT).

Wolf Pounce

Attack your enemy in a leap attack. Physical ranged attack. Strengthened by Strength (STR), Dexterity (DEX).
