Lack of control and security on P-servers

07.02.2021

One of the negative sides about Metin2 P-servers is the lack of security and control when it comes to privacy. There are people who misuse users' data and exploit it for their own purposes.

What can happen?

When you register on a P-server, you always provide an ID, password and e-mail address. Server admins or hackers who get hold of this data due to insufficient security measures then try the data provided by the users on other Metin2 servers and try to get hold of equipment in order to sell it for real money. In the majority of cases where a user was hacked or drained, it was because they provided the same data to multiple servers.

It can be much worse!

It gets bad when a user uses the same login data on a private server as, for example, on a private e-mail or bank account. As a result, the people who get hold of this data can cause considerable damage in the life of the affected user.

What can I do?

First of all, it is strongly recommended that you use different login data (ID and password) for each server. Apart from that, there are servers that offer extra security, such as 2-factor authentication, or an additional PIN when logging in. If these are offered, be sure to use them.

How to stay safe

It is generally recommended that you use a different password wherever possible. For this purpose, you can easily generate secure and random passwords via sites, such as Password Generator. Of course, the question arises how to remember all these complicated passwords. For this, we recommend a password manager, which is usually also present in browsers and can be easily linked to email accounts. Our recommendation is LastPass because it is very easy to use and can be used via a browser extension.
